Offending the internet by police officers is an illegal act

Insults in a public place are not only not ending, but the content of the insults is changing rapidly.

The Immunity and Internal Investigation Officers of the Tauragė County Chief Police Commissariat noticed that in the Facebook group of the social network “Where is the Tripod Radar in Tauragė County?” a photo of a car belonging to the Chief Police Commissariat of Tauragė County was added to it, to which two more photos were added (collage). This online post was published on September 8, 2020 at about 12.44 pm in the above group, a resident of Tauragė district, born In the 1970s, such a record was expected to warn drivers of standing officers, but did not think that not only words but also visual material could be offensive.

Unfortunately, the compiled photo insulted the honor and dignity of the police and earned the husband an administrative offense under Article 508 (1) of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Lithuania. (Humiliation of the honor and dignity of a statutory civil servant, military police or intelligence officer). The man admitted to uploading an online post and regretted his action, so he was fined half the minimum.

Officials point out that the social space (including the internet) is not meant to offend either police officers or others.
